This Privacy Policy explains how nionology, lda uses and protects the personal data of visitors, applicants and members in connection with the nion.pt website, the application process and participation in the nion ecosystem. nionology, lda respects your privacy and is committed to processing personal data transparently, proportionately and securely, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 — the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — and other applicable legislation.
1. Data controller
The data controller is nionology, lda, a Portuguese private limited company with Corporate Tax ID No. 519275810 and registered office at Avenida Artur Cupertino de Miranda, n.º 2, r/c esq, 2780-194 Oeiras, Portugal, hereinafter referred to as “nion”. 2. Definitions
For the purposes of this Policy, “personal data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person; “data subject” is the person to whom the data relates; “processing” means any operation performed on personal data; “controller” means the entity that determines the purposes and means of processing; “processor” means an entity that processes data on behalf of the controller; and “consent” means a freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject's wishes.
3. How we collect data
We may collect data through the application form available at www.nion.pt, by email, telephone, WhatsApp, in-person contacts, events, contractual documentation and interactions connected with admission or membership. The website may also collect technical data strictly necessary for its operation and, only after consent, usage data through cookies or equivalent analytics technologies.
4. Data we process
During the application process, we may process your full name, professional email, telephone or WhatsApp number, company, role, industry, website, LinkedIn or Instagram profile, motivation, consent choices and language. We may also process the referring URL, UTM parameters, date and time, IP address and technical security data. In connection with members, we may process identification, contact, billing and participation data, preferences, professional profile, objectives and information necessary for contract management, profiling, matching and authorised introductions.
5. Purposes of processing
We process data to receive, manage and assess applications; take pre-contractual steps requested by applicants; communicate with applicants; enter into and perform the membership agreement; onboard and support members; organise events and experiences; support profiling, smart matching and relevant introductions; manage billing and legal obligations; respond to requests; protect the website and prevent abuse; establish or defend legal claims; and, where applicable consent has been given, send marketing communications and measure website and communication performance.
6. Legal bases
Processing may be based on pre-contractual steps requested by the applicant, performance of the membership agreement, consent, compliance with legal obligations and nion's legitimate interests, including website security, fraud prevention, community management and the establishment or defence of legal claims. Marketing communications and analytics cookies depend on consent where legally required. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
7. Children
nion is a business club intended for professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect children's personal data through the application process. If you become aware that a child has provided us with data without appropriate authorisation, contact us so that we can assess and delete the information where applicable.
8. Cookies and analytics
The website uses storage and cookies that are strictly necessary for security, navigation and recording consent preferences. Analytics cookies and scripts are not loaded before your authorisation. The banner allows you to accept all cookies, keep essential cookies only or customise your analytics preference, and you can change your choice later through the preferences control available on the website. Refusing non-essential cookies does not prevent access to the main content.
9. Links to other websites
The website may contain links to third-party websites, including social networks, communication platforms or partners. Those websites have their own terms and policies and are not controlled by nion. We recommend reviewing their policies before providing personal data. nion is not responsible for the content, security or privacy practices of third-party websites.
10. Recipients and processors
Data may be processed by providers supporting website hosting, databases, CRM and marketing automation, email, analytics and technology support, including the GoHighLevel platform used to manage contacts and applications. These providers process data under nion's instructions and are subject to confidentiality, security and data protection obligations. Sharing with members, partners or authorities only takes place where necessary, proportionate and supported by an applicable legal basis.
11. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where applicable, we use mechanisms recognised under the GDPR, including adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, supplemented by additional measures appropriate to the risk.
12. Data security
We apply technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, loss, disclosure or destruction. These measures include access controls and restrictions, authentication, technical logs, protected communications and incident-management procedures. No internet transmission is entirely risk-free, but we review the measures adopted in light of the nature of the data and processing.
13. Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to comply with legal obligations. Application data is retained during assessment and for a justifiable period for related contacts, duplicate prevention and the establishment or defence of legal claims. Member data is retained during the contractual relationship and for applicable statutory periods after it ends. Data processed for marketing is retained until consent is withdrawn or, in the absence of withdrawal, for a maximum of four years, without prejudice to obtaining renewed consent. At the end of the applicable period, data is securely deleted or anonymised.
14. Withdrawing or changing consent
You may withdraw or change consent at any time and free of charge through the cookie preferences, the unsubscribe option included in communications or a request sent to team@nion.pt. Your most recent choice prevails over previous choices. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing based on another legal basis or the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
15. Your rights
Where applicable, you may request information and access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or object to processing, and withdraw consent. You may exercise these rights through team@nion.pt. We will respond within the statutory period and may request reasonable information to verify the requester's identity. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD) at www.cnpd.pt.
16. Updates to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect legal, operational or technological changes. The version in force will remain available on this page with its latest update date. Material changes may be communicated through the channels considered appropriate.
